Every now and then, a convergence of world events causes us to think more deeply about who we are and where we have been. In the midst of the scramble of countries to make appropriate adjustments in their national lives to accommodate an influx of newcomers, many individuals are trying to do something to ease the refugees’ discomfort.
Hand that made salve of clay
And touched eyes that opened
To light and life;
Hand that rested on the shoulder
Of a leper and Made him clean,
Set him free; Hand that broke bread
To feed hungry mouths—
Fragments left to tell the story.
