My journey in the tech industry began with a single step, fueled by my passion for technology’s power to transform lives. It’s not just important for generations following mine, but also generations proceeding mine to have an example to learn from my potential failures and successes in a relatively young industry with unlimited potential. By putting diverse tech leaders on the world stage and in the media, we inspire the next generation to explore STEM careers with enthusiasm and determination.

Technology has played a pivotal role in leveling the playing field and providing opportunities to groups that were once marginalized. From remote work possibilities that accommodate various needs to AI-driven solutions that mitigate biases in hiring processes, tech has opened doors that were once closed. It’s our responsibility as tech professionals to ensure that these opportunities are accessible to all, regardless of their background.

Advice for Aspiring Tech Professionals

For people of color considering tech careers, my advice is simple: be confident in your abilities, leverage your unique perspective, and find a way to be comfortable in new spaces that you don’t immediately recognize. The tech industry thrives on innovation, and your diverse experiences are your greatest assets. Seek mentors who have walked a similar path and don’t be afraid to ask questions or seek guidance. Every challenge you overcome will only make your journey more impactful.
